The Roman Catholic Diocese of Youngstown (DOY) and the Northeastern Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (NEOS ELCA) invites the public to an Ecumenical Evening Prayer for the Lutheran Catholic Common Commemoration of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation, Sunday, October 29, 6:00 p.m., St. Columba Cathedral, Youngstown OH.  Bishop Abraham Allende (NEOS ELCA) and Bishop George V. Murry SJ (DOY) celebrate this Evening Prayer for Christian unity.  Evening Prayer features Lutheran and Catholic vocalists and musicians from churches throughout the NEOS ELCA and the DOY.  A reception follows in the Cathedral Parish Hall.

On October 29, 2000, Bishop Thomas Tobin (DOY) and Bishop Marcus Miller (NEOS ELCA) signed a Covenant to pray, study, and act together for Christian unity.  The Bishops also established a Lutheran-Catholic Covenant Commission to oversee implementation of the Covenant such as this Ecumenical Evening Prayer.  For more information about the Common Commemoration and the Lutheran Catholic Covenant, visit www.lcovenant.weebly.com.
