14th Annual Men Who Cook – “Beach Boys Bash”

Catholic Charities Regional Agency will hold their 14th Annual Men Who Cook event, “Beach Boys Bash” on Saturday, April 13, 2019, starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Maronite Center on Meridian Road.  The event features notable men in the area preparing their favorite dish for sampling.  A panel of prominent women serves as judges to award the chefs’ dishes based on their unique qualities.  This event benefits the Basic Needs/ Emergency Assistance Program, which combines material and financial assistance with advocacy efforts to people in need regardless of religious affiliation.  Last year alone, this program helped more than 25,000 people in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.  Since inception, Men Who Cook has raised over $390,000 toward this program.

Some of this year’s celebrity chefs include:  WFMJ’s Andrew DiPaolo and Derek Steyer; Mahoning County Auditor Ralph Meacham; area clergy Rev. John Jerek and Rev. Christopher Cicero; Paul Homick of Mercy Health; Owner of Cookie Creations’ Jeff Janci; Barry Franks with Judge Anthony Donofrio and Judge Gene Donofrio; Café Augustine; and Michael Rulli of Rulli Brothers Supermarkets and State Senator.  Some of the noteworthy judges in this year’s event are Roxann Sebest of United Way of Mahoning Valley, Judge Maureen Sweeney, Attorney Shirley Christian, Judge Kay Woods, Carol Holmes of Mercy Health, Ginny Pasha of United Way of Trumbull County, and Casey Malone, host of the WFMJ’s and WBCB’s The Casey Malone Show

This year’s leading sponsors are The DeBartolo Corporation, The Medical Staff at Mercy Health, Drs. James and Cynthia Kravec & Family, the Mercy Health Foundation, the Mahoning County Mental Health & Recovery Board, and Dr. Melissa Padgett.  The event features a variety of auction items and raffles.  Tickets for the event are $40 per person and/or $320 for a table of 8. As part of our continued efforts for the Emergency Assistance Program, Men Who Cook is still seeking sponsorships, donations and auction items for the event.  Sponsorship levels range from $250 to $7,500 and program

advertising is available for $100.
