Seminarian formation in the Diocese of Youngstown is a rigorous program encompassing academic study, spiritual growth, and generous service to those in need. This comprehensive training ensures that our future priests can serve parish families with both pastoral dedication and a father’s care. Seminarians study for 6-10 years at Borromeo Seminary (Cleveland, OH), Saint Mary Seminary (Wickliffe, OH), and John Carroll University (University Heights, OH). By supporting the Office of Church Vocations, you help fund seminarians’ tuition, room, board, books, and summer ministry stipends, which amount to approximately $30,000 per seminarian per year. The seminarians are always excited to contribute to diocesan events and speak at parishes and schools. Your prayerful support enables seminarians to gain essential ministry experience as they continue to respond to the Lord’s call for their vocations and prepare to serve the Church.
“Seminary formation has opened my eyes to the work of the Holy Spirit in my life, which has helped me to embrace the life of a Catholic man and enter into the identity of a priest in such a way that I feel prepared to make this commitment for life.”
– Arthur Bodenschatz, seminarian
