September 13, 2021
On Sunday, September 19, 2021 we as a Church will celebrate Catechetical Sunday. This is typically a day when catechists are commissioned by their pastor to pass on the faith through religious education. It is also a time when the entire faith community beholds you and your ministry.
As bishop, I want to thank you for answering the call to teach as Jesus did. I, along with your pastor and the parents of our children who benefit from your passion and zeal, appreciate all of your efforts.
The theme for this year’s observance is: “Say the Word and My Soul Shall be Healed.” I am grateful for all that you do to proclaim the Word of God and make it so real for our children. You truly echo the words of Jesus. I pray that all of your words will reach the souls of your students and bring about grace. It is because of people like you, who joyfully proclaim the Gospel, that the faith continues to be passed on from generation to generation.
Be assured of a remembrance in my prayers. I hope you will do the same for me. Together, let us pray, “That All May Be One.”
Sincerely in Christ,
Most Reverend David J. Bonnar
Bishop of Youngstown
