The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton recently awarded a grant, in the amount of $50,000, to Catholic Charities Serving Portage and Stark Counties. The grant will be used for basic needs assistance in Stark County and for the agency’s Adult Day Services (ADS) ministry located in Louisville.
Funding from the grant was requested, in large part, to help offset pandemic related losses. These include lost fee for service revenue at ADS caused by its temporary closure and subsequent reduced participant census as well as forgone proceeds due to the agency’s inability to hold its annual Men Who Cook fundraiser. Grant funding will also be used to enhance remote services for those who are unable to attend the ADS facility in person.
George Garchar, Executive Director, expressed his gratitude, stating: “Through the generosity of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton, the financial challenges caused by the pandemic will be eased, and those we serve will greatly benefit.”
