The Chrism Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Columba Cathedral.

OFFICE OF CLERGY: All clergy are invited to concelebrate, and parishes and schools are welcomed to send delegations.
After the Chrism Mass, parishes are invited to obtain the holy oils for use in their parish. Since there is a provision in the rite for priests to bless the oil of the sick and oil of catechumens, there is concern regarding the sacred chrism. It is recommended that an appropriate amount of sacred chrism be taken, sufficient for parish needs. If a substantial amount of sacred oil is being disposed of each year, please adjust the amount taken. Oils will be distributed in Saint Columba Parish Hall after the Chrism Mass.

MUSIC: An invite is extended to all music directors and choir members to participate in singing for the Chrism Mass. Those who have joined in past years know how uplifting and powerful the music is. It is extremely nice to sing with such a good group of musicians. We are one of the only dioceses in the U. S. to be doing a choral offering of this scope, as a prelude to the Chrism Mass; a testament to your skill. Please send Ralph Holtzhauser an email of who to expect to sing and please invite your choirs and musicians. This music is not necessarily the easiest, but the experience they have is always an incredible time! We will have two rehearsal dates outside of the Chrism Mass day to adequately prepare. Try and make one if you can! I understand scheduling conflicts and would still love to have you come sing if you can make the Chrism Mass call time and Mass!
