Communications Assistant

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

 

The Communications Assistant supports the Department of Catholic Charities by creating and scheduling social media content, assisting with website maintenance, performing data entry and data analysis, developing digital and print media, and providing general administrative assistance to Department staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  1. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  2. Interest in social media, including trends and new developments, as well as proficiency with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube
  3. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, WordPress, Canva, Newsletter Tools (e.g. Constant Contact, Mailchimp); Adobe Creative Suite a plus
  4. Adherence to the tenants of Catholic Social Teaching and Catholic Doctrine

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Creative Writing, Digital Media, or related field
  2. A minimum of two years’ experience working in an office setting, managing multiple responsibilities, working with diverse groups of people, and utilizing various technologies
  3. Experience writing for publication and public speaking
  4. Successful completion of Safe Environment Policy requirements (i.e., background clearances and VIRTUS training)

 

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Under the direction of the Project Manager, develops, schedules and posts on Catholic Charities’ social media platforms
  2. Develops electronic and print publications, email blasts, brochures, flyers, and other materials, to promote the ministry of Catholic Charities as requested
  3. Develops content for all communication venues and maintains the Catholic Charities Strategic Communications Plan
  4. Communicates the organization’s message and branding across all platforms
  5. Prepares presentations and reports and maintains calendars and other forms of media as needed
  6. Coordinates a social media committee
  7. Provides general office assistance including, but not limited to, answering telephones, greeting visitors, making copies, setting up and cleaning up meetings, and other duties as assigned
  8. Develops proficiency with donor database software, Blackbaud, Raiser’s Edge and NXT
  9. Conducts prospect research using Blackbaud Software
