Judging has been completed to the 26th. Annual Communicator Awards, and CTNY, the Catholic Television Network of Youngstown, has been selected by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts to be recognized as a 2020 Communicator Awards Winner. CTNY received two Awards of Distinction and one Awards of Excellence. The Award of Excellence is for “Wineskins.” The two Awards of Distinction are for “Promise to Protect, Pledge to Heal” and “Spotlight.” The mission of the Communicator Awards is to seek out and recognize outstanding work in marketing and communications. The Communicator Award honors those who spread their message to the world. It is the leading international creative awards program of its kind. The prestigious award is hand-made and customized by the craftsmen at RS Owens, the same firm that produces the Oscar and Emmy Awards. “Wineskins” is an award-winning radio program conceived, produced and assembled in a magazine format by CTNY, airing every Sunday over several local radio stations within the six-counties of the Diocese of Youngstown. Since its beginning in August of 1981, Wineskins has won many awards. “Promise to Protect, Pledge to Heal” is a two-part series produced by CTNY to highlight the issue of clergy sexual abuse. The program host is Father James Korda, President of CTNY, and guests included, Bishop George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop of the Diocese of Youngstown, Msgr. John Zuraw, diocesan Chancellor, and Detective Delphine Baldwin-Casey, Investigator for Child Protection. The “Spotlight” program featured guest, Bob Elder, who told his own personal story as a victim of clergy sexual abuse. The program host for “Spotlight” is father James Korda.
