Full Time, on-site, with some local travel to parishes and institutions in the diocese.
Primary responsibilities in Lay Ecclesial Ministry:
With the staff, contribute to the design and implementation of recruitment strategies, mentoring, and ongoing formation for attracting and nurturing lay ecclesial ministers.
Recognize and affirm discernment of gifts in recruitment efforts for securing potential personnel and sustaining relationships.
Work with the Diocesan Lay Ecclesial Ministry Board to assess needs and develop appropriate ongoing in-service opportunities in the areas of personal, pastoral, spiritual and intellectual formation.
Primary responsibilities in Faith Formation:
Conduct evaluation of resources for authentic Catholic message for use in adult, youth, children, and family formation.
Curate resources including websites, social media apps and textbooks for use with adult, youth, children, and family formation and sacramental preparation including OCIA.
Promote and engage Parish LEMs and Catholic school personnel in ongoing formation opportunities and assist with fulfillment of diocesan certification standards.
Provide for the availability of core courses and general courses required for diocesan certification on a regular schedule facilitated locally in person and online. Assess the compatibility with courses offered by other institutions to determine equivalencies and credit.
Secondary responsibilities:
Provide with other staff members the regularly scheduled business meetings, in-service opportunities, retreats, orientations, and specialized ministry gatherings for Diocesan Pastoral Associates and other Parish Lay Ecclesial Ministers.
Collaborate with diocesan offices in the achievement of diocesan events, and activities.
Contribute to processing of parish data reports for statistical analysis.
With the Diocesan Council for Catechesis develop new initiatives in response to current needs in faith formation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master of Arts in Theology, Catechesis, Religious Studies, or Pastoral Ministry from an accredited Catholic University
- Minimum of five years of full time, effective parish ministry and administrative experience
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication capability
- Familiarity with and commitment to the standards for Lay Ecclesial Ministry
- Possesses knowledge of Vatican, USCCB and Diocesan documents on Catechesis and Lay Ecclesial Ministry
- Registered parishioner in full witness to the Catholic faith and tradition
- Competent in computer applications, current technologies, and social communications
- Sensitivity to ministry with persons of all abilities
- RCIA (OCIA) experience preferred
- Spanish a plus; not required
