Mass begins at 6:30 p.m. with a procession of parish representatives. A social will follow in the parish hall with pizza and build-your-own-ice-cream-sundae bar available. Teens may attend as a member of a youth group or campus ministry, or with their families. Either way, participants are asked to RSVP to this free event at https://www.facebook.com/events/322571618274017/ or signing on to Facebook and searching for “Diocese of Youngstown 75th Anniversary Youth Mass (West)” or emailing your name and number of people in your party to Cindee Case.

The Youth Mass gives teens an opportunity to gather with their peers in prayer, while also learning a little about the history of the Diocese of Youngstown. Also, the diocesan Church has an opportunity to show appreciation for the giftedness and energy that the young people bring to our faith communities. With the theme of the 75th Anniversary of the Diocese being, “With Pride in the past and Faith in the future,” it is wonderful to pause in gratitude for the past and the present, while also energizing Catholic for a faith-filled future.

The Diocese of Youngstown was established on May 15, 1943. Six northeastern counties in the state of Ohio were taken from the Diocese of Cleveland and were formed into the Diocese of Youngstown. The celebration of the 75th Anniversary began with a Mass on May 20, 2018 at the Cathedral of St. Columba and will continue with special events through June 9, 2019. A previous Youth Mass was held on August 26 at St. Rose in Girard for those on the East side of the diocese.
