Director of Development-St. Thomas Aquinas
Reports to: President of Stark County Catholic Schools
Position Summary:
The Development Director will be responsible for leading and overseeing the school’s fundraising efforts. This role includes managing donor relations, securing new donors, developing fundraising strategies, working with alumni and working closely with the leadership team to meet and exceed revenue goals.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
● Develops and executes a comprehensive Advancement Plan for the fiscal year including enrollment management, special events, Annual Fund, major gifts, Capital Campaign, and Planned Giving
● Develops, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive multi-year annual giving program that includes identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of constituents with objectives, timelines, and plan for evaluation
● Develops, designs, organizes, directs, and analyzes direct mail campaigns with specific marketing themes and timelines so as to effectively solicit gifts from alumni, parents, faculty/staff, and friends
● Proposes and develops strategies for solicitation of major gifts, capital projects, and gifts to the endowment. Establishes, along with the President, ongoing relationships with prospect/donor; recommending specific purpose and level of gift; identifying those to be involved in cultivation and subsequent solicitation
● Oversees management of gift processing and donor acknowledgement. Manages accompanying information systems, donor database, and financial reporting
● Researches and evaluates prospects for corporate and foundation grants. Conducts a full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources
● Creates a core group of monthly reports to assess the current status of the advancement program and to effectively measure progress made against previous years’ giving and current year goals to be shared with the President and the Advancement Committee of the Board
● Meet regularly with the President, the administration team, and the Advancement Committee of the Board of Directors
● Other duties as assigned by the President
Qualifications:
● Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred
● Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in development or fundraising, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding fundraising goals.
● Skills:
○ Strong leadership and management abilities.
○ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
○ Proficiency in donor management software (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge).
○ Ability to write compelling grant proposals.
○ Event planning and project management experience.
○ Knowledge of fundraising best practices and trends.
