Divine Mercy Massillon, a merged Parish of St. Barbara Church, St. Joseph Church, and St. Mary Church in Massillon, Ohio is seeking two full-time positions:
Director of Music and an Assistant Director of Music
The two positions would work in tandem to see that all needs .of the three Churches in this Parish merger are met.
Ministry Responsibilities would include, not limited to:
- Planning with Pastor the Liturgical Year to include all Liturgy and Special Masses
- In turn providing leadership within the Music Ministry of the Parish for all weekend Masses, Funerals, Weddings, Holy Days, Lenten/Holy Week services, extra services for Easter/Christmas/First Communion/Confirmation and during the year as required.
- Collaborating and coordinating together all areas of Music Ministry are covered at all three Churches: Cantors, Handbells, Accompanists
- Work towards a unified Mass Setting for entire Divine Mercy Parish
- Preparing worship aids as needed
- Maintain, develop and recruit Choirs, Bell Choirs, and Cantors
- Leading rehearsals for all the Music Ministry members
- Include Musicians with various instruments into the Liturgies
- Scheduling musicians/choirs/cantors for Liturgies
- Organizing, ordering, maintaining and expanding music and files, selecting music, learning, practicing for effectiveness
- Manage maintenance of the organ, piano, handbells, etc.
- Proficiency on One License Net system and weekly copyright info tracking a must
- Attending meetings, conferences and conventions of professional organizations.
- Coordinate special concerts for the benefit of the parish
- Manage expenses to annual operating budget for the Music Ministry,
- Collaborate with the Parish Staff
- Attendance in Liturgy Committee and Parish Council Meetings as scheduled
- Attendance at Funeral Planning Meetings with families.
- Prepare/assist in preparation of worship aids used during the year for special liturgies i.e. Christmas, Holy Week, Easter, First Communion, Confirmation, Daily Mass
- Examining new music and selecting appropriate music for the parish
- Writing publicity materials for the bulletin (concerts, recruiting info)
- Attending concerts to learn new music… membership in choral groups as additional training for conducting techniques, vocal training, and related skills.
- Assist in live-streaming services when applicable
Overall effectiveness of these positions are a result of being an active and contributing member of the Parish and being visible to the congregation.
Final Candidates will interview and perform before a panel.
Salary and Benefits will commensurate with experience.
Positions will begin July 1, 2023.
