The Boards of Directors of Catholic Charities of Ashtabula County and the Diocese of Youngstown Catholic Charities Corporation announce the appointment of Mrs. Jill M. Valentic to the position of executive director for Catholic Charities of Ashtabula County, an affiliate agency of the Diocese of Youngstown Catholic Charities Corporation. Mrs. Valentic succeeds Lynn Zalewski, who will be retiring in May after 12 years as the agency’s executive director, and 23 total years of service to Catholic Charities of Ashtabula County.
Mrs. Valentic has served as Catholic Charities of Ashtabula County’s Assistant Director since 2008, and has been responsible for assisting with all aspects of daily activities, operations, planning, and program implementation. She was hired by the agency in 2005 as the Senior and Adult Special Services Manager.
A graduate of Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Mrs. Valentic earned a Master of Science in Social Administration (MSSA) from the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University in 2017.
In addition to membership on several community committees and coalitions, Mrs. Valentic is a graduate of LEADERship Ashtabula and the Catholic Charities USA Leadership Institute. She is an invited lecturer for the Ashtabula County District Library on topics related to poverty, including homelessness.
Mrs. Valentic currently resides with her husband and daughter in Ashtabula, which has been her home since 1995. The Valentics are members of Our Lady of Peace Parish, Ashtabula.
“I believe my experience as Assistant Director has prepared me well to serve Catholic Charities of Ashtabula County as its next executive director,” Valentic explains.
“I am an agent of change who
believes in continuously strengthening the ministries we offer as an agency,
and as part of the larger Catholic Charities system in the Diocese of
Youngstown. Lynn [Zalewski] has done a
remarkable job of leading this agency and cultivating our ministries for the
past 12 years. I hope to build upon her
legacy by continuing to uphold our agency’s mission and vision, and working to
change lives in our community one family at a time.”
Mr. Nicholas Iarocci, President of Catholic Charities of Ashtabula County’s Board of Directors, states, “The Board is excited to have Jill Valentic as its next executive director, and is confident that she will be able to positively manage and lead Catholic Charities into the future.”
