                                                Part-time (15 hours per week)

DEPARTMENT/OFFICE    The Catholic Exponent

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The bookkeeper for The Catholic Exponent will review, record and process financial records and documents.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Accounts receivable –
    • Prepare monthly billings for newspaper and Website advertisers
    • Prepare monthly billings for Parish subscriptions
    • Prepare quarterly billings for funeral director group advertising
    • Receive and post customer payments
    • Prepare customer statements quarterly
  2. Accounts payable –
    • Generate checks weekly
  3. Prepare quarterly financial statements
  4. Enter hours worked for The Catholic Exponent staff payroll
  5. Enter journal entries recording payroll, monthly overhead expenses, and various other expenses  
  6. Generate reports detailing open invoices for The Catholic Exponent sales staff

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Computer proficient, particularly with QuickBooks, Excel and Word
  2. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  3. Must be a self-starter and perform duties independently

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  1. Associate degree or higher in accounting or business preferred
  2. Previous relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience
