The Director of Mission and Ministry Services at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital will be responsible for developing and implementing programs and processes to support the decisions, policies and programs of Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital (Mercy) in maintaining a Catholic identity and upholding the values of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine at Mercy facilities, which includes the implementation of the Ethical and Religious Directives for Health Care Services as interpreted by the Bishop of Youngstown, and the Faith Obligations, as outlined in the Mission and Ministry Services Agreement by and between Mercy and the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine Health System, Inc.

The Director of Mission and Ministry Services shall have responsibility for Mission and Ministry Services, including but not limited to, the implementation and observance of the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services and other Faith Obligations at the Facilities and in all of Mercy’s policies and practices.  Develops programs for the development of Catholic health care leadership for executive staff members of Mercy and the Facilities.  The Director of Mission and Ministry is part of the senior leadership team and is accountable to the President and CEO of Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital with oversight by the Senior Vice President of Mission and Ministry at the Sisters of Charity Health System.

Serves as a resource person for the Director of Pastoral Care and its Department at the Hospital and provides management oversight to the Department of Pastoral Care.  Maintains ongoing relationships with the Board of Trustees and the Senior Executive of the Hospital in the areas of community outreach and social services programs.  Serves as the liaison person with respective Diocesan authorities regarding pastoral care matters, including the appointment and replacement of Catholic priest chaplains at the Hospital.  Working with the Mission and Ministry Committee, manages the annual Mission Audit of the Hospital; as well as the annual evaluations of the Hospital’s leadership, with respect to mission competencies and the effectiveness of the implementations of the Faith Obligations at the Facilities.

Master’s degree in Theology, Pastoral Ministry, Spirituality, Ethics, or related field.  Background in any one or more of the following is preferred: ethics, pastoral care, counseling, Catholic Healthcare Management.  Demonstrated leadership at a professional level, minimum of three years of administrative/management responsibility in health, education or human service organization; experience in a Catholic setting is desirable.  Must have strong oral and written communication skills; the ability to relate to others and to manage issues in a professional, caring manner.
