The Roman Catholic Diocese of Youngstown and the Northeast Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America announce the Lutheran-Catholic Covenant Celebration, Word of Life: How Lutherans and Catholics Interpret the Bible, on October 28, 2012, from 2:00 -6:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Canton, Ohio. An optional supper follows. Bishop Elizabeth Eaton, NEOS ELCA, presides at Evening Prayer at 5:30 p.m. with Bishop George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop of Youngstown, as the homilist.
Reverend Doctor George Smiga, St. Mary Seminary and Graduate School of Theology, Cleveland, Ohio, and Reverend Doctor Mark Allan Powell, Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus Ohio, offer reflections on their traditions’ interpretations of the Bible.
This event celebrates the Lutheran-Catholic Covenant signed in October, 2000, by Bishop Thomas Tobin and Bishop Marcus Miller. Proceeds from the free will offering during worship assist the Fish Food Pantry and Outreach Ministry of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
The celebration concludes at 6:15 p.m. with an optional supper for $10.00 prepaid with registration. Registration for all participants is requested to facilitate seating. The deadline is October 15.
