LUTHERAN-CATHOLIC COVENANT CELEBRATION
OUR COMMON WITNESS TO THE GOSPEL
SEPTEMBER 8, 2019
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Youngstown and the Northeastern Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America announce the Lutheran-Catholic Covenant Celebration, Our Common Witness to the Gospel, on September 8, 2:30 – 6:30 p.m., followed by an optional supper at St. Michael Parish Family Life Center, Canfield OH. Edward Hahnenberg Ph. D. is the featured presenter. Bishop Abraham Allende, NEOS ELCA, and Very Reverend Monsignor Robert Siffrin, Vicar General, Diocese of Youngstown, are offering Evening Prayer. This day of prayer and study commemorates the signing of the Lutheran-Catholic Covenant in October 2000 by Bishop Thomas Tobin and Bishop Marcus Miller.
Dr. Edward P. Hahnenberg is Professor and Breen Chair in Catholic Theology at John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. He is the author or co-editor of five books—including most recently A Church with Open Doors: Catholic Ecclesiology for the Third Millennium (edited with Richard Gaillardetz) and Theology for Ministry: An Introduction for Lay Ministers. Dr. Hahnenberg is currently a delegate to the U.S. Lutheran-Catholic Dialogue.
Registration for the Celebration @ $5.00 plus @ $10.00 for the optional prepaid supper at 6:30 p.m. is due August 26. A free will offering during Evening Prayer will be collected for Operation Blessing, an ecumenical food assistance program hosted by Canfield Presbyterian Church. For online registration, click here.
