PRESS RELEASE

MORE INFO: Very Rev. Msgr. John Zuraw, Vicar General, (330) 744-8451

The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown announces Ministry Day 2022 on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at John F. Kennedy High School in Warren. All interested adults are invited to a day of prayer, learning and community, beginning at 8:30 a.m. with registration, a welcome by Bishop David J. Bonnar at 9:00 a.m., a keynote at 9:30 a.m., followed by a wide variety of breakout sessions, and concluding with closing prayer and sending at 3:00 p.m.

Keynote speaker Father Ricky Manalo, CSP, Ph.D., will address “The Eucharist and Synodality: Journeying Together as the Body of Christ.” Father Manalo, a Paulist Priest, composer, and author, has spoken and performed music nationally and internationally, and serves the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops as a theological consultor.

The Diocese of Youngstown is currently participating in two multiple-year efforts: a worldwide Synod, initiated by Pope Francis, and a Eucharistic Revival, initiated by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Bishop Bonnar comments, “The path of Synodality and the launch of the Eucharistic Revival is the path that God expects of the Church in the Third Millennium. As Pope Francis reminds us, we are all called to be active and responsible for evangelization. I am looking forward to this opportunity to be renewed as active Catholics.” Monsignor John A. Zuraw, Vicar General and the chair of the Ministry Day Planning Committee expressed his excitement that as a Diocesan Church we will once again gather together as one for Ministry Day. “Everyone is welcome to this unique opportunity for people already active or thinking about offering their gifts and talents to a parish or diocesan ministry.”

Participants may select three from nearly fifty sessions on various topics, many which will relate the synod on synodality to different aspects of Church ministry, and others addressing how to inspire a greater understanding of the Eucharist. The target audience for Ministry Day includes Campus Ministry, Catechists, Evangelization, Hispanic Ministry, Justice, Outreach, Liturgy, Worship, Marriage, Family, Missions, Musicians, Parish Administration, Parish Ministers, RCIA, Respect Life, Teachers, Social Communications, Vocations, Youth Ministry and Young Adult Ministry. Select sessions will be presented in Spanish.

The full brochure and pre-registration information is available at www.doy.org/events/ministry-day-2022/ Discounts are available for group registrations. The registration includes the full day of events, lunch, and exhibits.
