National Pastoral Musicians (NMP) New Youngstown Chapter Established

The Office of Worship announces that through the Music Committee of the Diocesan Liturgical Commission, a local chapter of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians (NPM) has been established for the diocese.  The National Association of Pastoral Musician fosters the art of music in liturgy and serves the liturgical apostolate by providing an educational and formational forum on issues affecting musical and liturgical practice in the Church for musicians, clergy, liturgists, and other leaders of prayer.

A local chapter provides support and ongoing education for parish musicians, choir directors, music directors, organists, pianists, and liturgists.  The first meeting of the NPM Youngstown Chapter will be held on Monday, November 11, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at Regina Coeli Church, 663 Fernwood Blvd. Alliance, Ohio 44601.  There is no cost to join and the two meetings a year are planned along with other diocesan musical events and opportunities.

Mr. Ron Goulish, Music Director of St. Christine Church, Youngstown, will lead a discussion on working with parish pastoral teams especially when undergoing a change or transition to new leadership in the parish.  All parish musicians, liturgists, pastors, and parish leaders are welcome to attend.  For more information regarding the new NPM Youngstown Chapter, contact Mrs. Libby Saxton, Director of Music at Saint Michael the Archangel Parish, Canton, 330-492-3119 or libby@stmichaelcanton.org. or Rev. Michael D. Balash, Director, Office of Worship, 330-744-8451 or mbalash@youngstowndiocese.org.
