Nicolas (“Nick”) Keller named Compliance Officer for the Diocese of Youngstown

The Diocese of Youngstown announces the addition of Mr. Nicolas (“Nick”) Keller as Diocesan Compliance Officer, effective September 26, 2022. Bishop Bonnar has directed the addition of this new position in the Finance Department to continue greater financial accountability and transparency throughout the parishes and institutions of the Diocese of Youngstown.

The Diocesan Compliance Officer will create and implement an effective compliance program to identify and assess areas of compliance risk to ensure, through best practices and training, that laws, regulations, organization policies, and compliance standards are appropriately met. This includes safety and security matters, employment regulations, meeting processes, and other policies and practices.

Mr. Keller brings with him a vast amount of legal knowledge and corporate compliance experience having served as a corporate Law Clerk for a major shopping mall developer, and as an Operations Specialist for one of the largest domestic franchisees of a popular fast service food chain where one of his main duties was on-site store compliance inspections and audits. He is a graduate of St. Matthias School, Boardman High School, Youngstown State University, and Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Mr. Keller comments, “I am proud and humbled to have been selected as the first ever Compliance Officer for the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown – a position which gives me an opportunity to serve the Church while making a positive impact on the community at large.”
