Rev. Donald King Appointed Interim President of Stark County Catholic Schools

The Most Rev. David J. Bonnar, Bishop of Youngstown, has appointed Rev. Donald King as Interim President of Stark County Catholic Schools. The appointment was effective on July 1, 2022 and Father King has been meeting with stakeholders throughout the summer.

Father King retired in August 2019 as pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Canton, where had had served since 2010. He also previously served as Pastor of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Warren. His various other assignments include time as associate pastor of parishes in Stark County. Father King is a native of Stark County and attended St. Benedict and Central Catholic in Canton. He has served on Catholic school boards in both Stark and Trumbull counties.

As Interim President of Stark County Catholic Schools, Father King is providing leadership for Canton Central Catholic High School and St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Louisville, with the responsibility of identifying strengths and opportunities for each school.

Mary Fiala, Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Youngstown, comments that, “Father King is well-known in Stark County, and his pastoral and leadership gifts will serve us well during this current transitional time.”

Father King comments, “I am already enjoying my time working with the leadership of both St. Thomas Aquinas and Central Catholic high schools and am excited about the distinctive gifts and mission of each school.”
