Bishop George V. Murry, S.J. has appointed Father Martin Celuch as judicial vicar for the Diocese of Youngstown, effective March 3, 2020. As judicial vicar he will also serve as director of the diocesan Department of Canonical Services.
Father Celuch was born in Slovakia and ordained for the Archdiocese of Kosice in the Slovak Republic on June 14, 2003. Incardinated into the Diocese of Youngstown in 2008, Father Celuch has served as associate pastor of St. Nicholas Parish, Struthers, Holy Family Parish, Poland and pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Youngstown. He received his licentiate in canon law from Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. Since 2011 he has served as judge and defender of the bond. In 2015 he was named adjutant Judicial Vicar in the diocesan tribunal. Presently he also serves as pastor of Christ Our Savior Parish, Struthers. Father Celuch replaces Monsignor Peter Polando who is on a leave of absence for health reasons.
