Favorite Saint(s): How can I have just one favorite saint? Here are just a few. St Thérèse, because of her Little Way and her joy, St. Rita of Cascia for her faithful endurance during the severe difficulties she faced and for her intercession, St Thomas the Apostle for being a little skeptical and still faithful, St. Francis of Assisi for his radical conversion, and St Thomas Aquinas for helping me to make sense of the Catholic faith.
Hobbies/Interests: Visit new places, friends and family, read, take long walks, play video games
Family Background: My family is from the Youngstown area. My father is a graduate of YSU and was a pharmaceutical sales rep for 15 years before becoming the owner of England’s Water Works. My mother was a homemaker and a great cook. She now cares for the sick and homebound. My brother lives in the area with his family as does my sister.
What led you to consider the priesthood: I was convinced the moment I was asked to consider it by Fr. Bonnot, and later by Fr. Brienz and many others. I had long considered the priesthood, but never seriously until someone reached out, first to become more active in the parish, and then to attend a vocations retreat.
Favorite thing about Seminary Life: The prayer life and the camaraderie. I love the way Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours are prayed here, with great reverence and with many variations which may be found in different parishes. I am also impressed with the good natured men that I have met.
Advice for guys considering Priesthood: Speak with your pastor and the Vocations Director and visit a seminary, regardless of your age and background. Ask the Lord for guidance. I have never experienced anything else quite like this, and it is not something you can know about until you try it. If you have ever considered the priesthood, you owe it to yourself (and to those you may be called to serve) to investigate further.
