YOUNGSTOWN, OH – The Congregation of the Divine Spirit (CDS) and Hari Group LLC, an Ohio Limited Liability Company, are pleased to mutually announce that Hari Group LLC, has acquired the House of Loreto, a 50-bed licensed nursing facility located at 2812 Harvard Avenue, NW, in Canton, Ohio.

With the approval of the Most Reverend David J. Bonnar, Bishop of Youngstown, and leadership from the Diocese of Youngstown, the CDS community prayerfully determined that the sale of House of Loreto would be the best course of action.

“My concern from the onset of our discussions has been for the care of the religious sisters, who have lovingly and faithfully served the needs of older adults for decades,” explains Bishop Bonnar.  “For the past several years it has become increasingly difficult for stand-alone, community-based skilled nursing facilities to exist without either partnering with a larger system or selling to an individual or entity with the means to enhance the facility and its offerings, making it not only financially sustainable, but desirable for those seeking long-term care for themselves or their loved ones.”

Hari Group LLC deeply respects House of Loreto’s legacy and is committed to maintaining the nursing home’s tradition of compassionate, high-quality care. The transition will ensure stability for residents and staff while allowing the Sisters to continue their ministry in Canton, Ohio, including a modified role as volunteers at the House of Loreto.

“We are privileged to take on the stewardship of this esteemed institution,” said Bharat Thakkar, owner of Hari Group LLC. “Our commitment is to uphold the values and mission that the Sisters have nurtured over the years, ensuring that the House of Loreto remains a place of comfort, dignity, and care for its residents.”

“We Sisters have been involved with the House of Loreto literally from the ground up,” remarked Sister Michele Beauseigneur, Superior of the community.  “God’s Providence has been evident from the beginning in the wisdom of Mother Patricia O’Connor, founding Superior of CDS, and the experienced guidance of Sister Ann Jeanne, the nationally acclaimed founding Administrator.  We trust in His continued care in this new chapter.  We have been blessed with deep friendships and support from the Canton-area communities, and we look forward to watching Hari Group, LLC, succeed in their mission and come to love Canton, Ohio.”

Founded in 1956 by the Most Rev. Archbishop John Mark Gannon in Erie, Pennsylvania, the Congregation of the Divine Spirit has dedicated itself to the sanctification of the Christian family through education and care of the aged.  In 1957, Diocese of Youngstown Bishop Emmet M. Walsh asked for Sisters to staff the existing Loretto Home for the Aged on Blake Avenue in Canton.  The increased demand for care for the elderly brought about a bequest from local insurance agent William L. Zink to begin construction of the new House of Loreto on Harvard Avenue, which opened in 1963.  The remainder of the total cost was financed by the hard work of the Sisters, with the debt paid in full by 1972.

Hari Group LLC and CDS see this acquisition as a significant step in preserving the mission of the Sisters while ensuring that the residents continue to receive exceptional faith-driven, compassionate services that have been House of Loreto’s hallmark.  The organization looks forward to working closely with the dedicated staff and volunteers to enhance the quality of care and maintain the facility’s strong community presence.
