YOUNGSTOWN, OH – In order to serve rural families living on fairgrounds, the Diocesan Office of Rural Life and Ministry announces opportunities to celebrate Catholic Mass at six county fairs:
- Rev. Kevin Peters will be celebrating Mass at the Trumbull County Fair on Sunday, July 19th, 12 p.m. at the Historical Stage (899 Everett Hull Road, Cortland)
- Rev. Kevin Peters will be celebrating Mass at the Columbiana County Fair on Sunday, August 9th, 8:00 a.m. at the Arts and Crafts building near Gate A. (225 Lee Ave, Lisbon)
- Rev. John Ettinger will be celebrating Mass at the Ashtabula County Fair on Sunday, August 16th, 8:00 a.m. in the Bernard Pavilion (127 North Elm Street, Jefferson)
- Rev. Jim Lang will be celebrating Mass at the Portage County Fair on Sunday, August 30th, 8:00 a.m. in the Hubbard Building (4215 Fairground Road, Atwater)
- Rev. Jim Lang will be celebrating Mass at the Stark County Fair on Sunday, September 6, 8:00 a.m. in the Pavilion. (305 Wertz Avenue Northwest, Canton)
- Rev. Kevin Peters will be celebrating Mass at the Canfield Fair (Mahoning County) on Sunday September 6, 8:00 a.m. in the Coliseum #8 (7265 Columbiana-Canfield Road, Canfield)
“A Blessing of the Herd” event will take place on Sunday, June 28, 2 p.m. at Brugler Farm (7827 Hayes-Orangeville Rd Burghill).
Also, The Office of Rural Life and Ministry is supporting the celebration of the Feast of the Assumption over August 13-15, 2026 for Portage County at St. John Neumann Parish (St. Joseph Church, Mogadore). Each evening beginning at 6pm there will be Mass, followed by a candlelight rosary procession, and refreshments. All are welcome to participate in these celebrations of our faith. These Masses are essential for families who are spending the week with their animals at the Fair.
