Christine Jickess Promoted to Director of Accounting and Financial Reporting

The Diocese of Youngstown is pleased to announce the promotion of Christine Jickess to Director of Accounting and Financial Reporting for the Diocese of Youngstown, effective September 1, 2022. Since May 2009, Mrs. Jickess has served the Diocese of Youngstown as the Associate Director of Finance.

Mrs. Jickess comments, “The best decision I’ve made in my 30-year accounting and financial reporting career was joining the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown in 2009. I feel blessed to be able to serve in the mission of the Church, while working with so many talented, loving and respectful individuals throughout the Diocese.”

In her new role, Mrs. Jickess will oversee a team of accounting personnel in the financial operations and reporting of the Central Offices of the Diocese. Her responsibilities include leading annual budgeting, managing organizational cash flow and forecasting, coordinating and leading the annual audit process, providing financial oversight and monitoring of sound fiscal management practices and internal controls, and managing and overseeing accounting processes, including bookkeeping, payroll, invoicing and financial reporting. Mrs. Jickess is a Certified Public Accountant with the State of Ohio, a member of The Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Before joining the diocese in 2009, Mrs. Jickess previously served 20 years in public accounting as a Manager at Hill, Barth & King LLC, specializing in nonprofit accounting and auditing. Her most recent accomplishment at the diocese includes successfully co-managing the implementation of a new payroll and benefits platform throughout 100 diocesan parishes and social service agencies that employ over 2,000 individuals.

Mr. Patrick Kelly, Chief Financial Officer for the Diocese of Youngstown, comments, “Christine is a very diligent and focused team member. Her vast experience and expertise in accounting and financial reporting is a true asset to the diocese and will be further utilized as we continue to implement the regional pastoral plan.”

Mrs. Jickess was born and raised in Youngstown, attended St. Matthias Catholic Elementary School and Woodrow Wilson High School. She is a graduate of Youngstown State University, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

She has two children and lives in Canfield, Ohio, with her husband of 32 years, where she is an active member of St. Michael Parish in Canfield.
