Bishop David J. Bonnar announces the following Clergy Assignments effective July 1, 2024 unless otherwise noted:

 

Clergy Assignments – Priests: 

Very Reverend Michael D. Balash, relieved as pro-tem administrator of Saint Rose Parish, Girard, effective June 1, 2024. 

Reverend Zachary Coulter, from pastor of Saint Joseph Parish, Mogadore and Saint Peter  of the Fields Parish, Rootstown to administrator of Christ Our Savior Parish, Struthers  and Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish, Lowellville with residence at Christ Our Savior  – Holy Trinity Church campus. 

Reverend Daniel Finnerty, from pastor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary  Parish, Geneva, pastoral care at Our Lady of Peace Parish, Ashtabula, and chaplain at  Saint John Catholic School to administrator of Christ the Servant Parish and Little Flower  Parish in Canton with residence at Little Flower Church campus. 

Reverend John Chrysostom Kozlowski, O.P., as pastor of Saint Rose Parish, Girard,  effective June 1, 2024. 

Reverend Robert Lanterman, from parochial vicar at Saint Columba Cathedral, Holy Apostles Parish, Saint Edward Parish, Youngstown, and Archives Clerk to parochial vicar at Divine Mercy Parish, Massillon, effective June 17, 2024, and part-time parochial vicar  at Christ the Servant Parish, and Little Flower Parish, Canton, effective July 1, 2024, with  residence at Saint Barabara Church campus. Fr. Lanterman also remains Curator of  Patrimony.

Reverend Patrick Manning, relieved as pro-tem administrator of Little Flower Parish, Canton. 

Very Reverend Michael Swierz, V.F., from the previously announced assignment as pastor of Saint Rose Parish, Girard, due to the continuing ministerial service provided by the Dominican Order at Saint Rose Parish, Girard effective immediately. Father Swierz  maintains his current responsibilities as pastor of Saint Patrick, Parish, Hubbard, and president of Saint Joseph the Provider School, Youngstown, and Dean of Trumbull  Deanery. 

Reverend Stephen Zeigler, from the previously announced assignment as parochial vicar at Saint Parick Parish, Hubbard and Saint Rose Parish, Girard, due to the continuing ministerial service provided by the Dominican Order at Saint Rose Parish, Girard, to  parochial vicar at Saint Christine Parish, Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, and Saint Brendan  Parish, Youngstown, effective June 1, 2024.

Reverend Benson Okpara, officially incardinated into the Diocese of Youngstown on  May 8, 2024. 

 

Clergy Assignments /Retirement – Deacons:

Deacon John Bartos, from the previously announced assignment as deacon at Saint Rose Parish, Girard, effective immediately and maintaining his current diaconal  responsibilities at Saint Patrick Parish, Hubbard. 

Deacon Robert Friedman, from the previously announced assignment as deacon at Saint Rose Parish, Girard, effective immediately and maintaining his current  diaconal responsibilities at Saint Patrick Parish, Hubbard. 

Deacon Michael Medvec, from deacon at Saint Patrick Parish, Hubbard, to deacon at Saint Rose Parish, Girard. 

Deacon Paul Milligan, has submitted his request for retirement from active diaconal responsibilities at Saint Rose Parish, Girard, effective June 1, 2024

Deacon Michael Seaman, has submitted his request for retirement from active diaconal responsibilities at the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist and Saint Peter Parish, Canton.

Decree of Suppression issued April 10, 2024, of the Missionary Sisters of Saint Francis of Assisi, a private association, at Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish, Vienna.
