Catechetical Sunday
“Lord, when did we see you hungry?” -Matthew 25:37
“Lord, When Did We See You Hungry?” is the theme for Catechetical Sunday, designated by USCCB as a particular day of recognition for all those who serve as Ministers of the Word, Catholic School Teachers, Parish Faith Formation Leaders, Catechists, Facilitators of Adult Learning, Small Groups, OCIA, and other areas of lifelong learning.
Our theme reflects our call to missionary discipleship. As St John Paul II reminded us: The universal call to holiness is closely linked to the universal call to mission. Every member of the faithful is called to holiness and to mission. We are called to be eucharist by word and action to our brothers and sisters in Christ. Our times cry out for this kind of holiness, one inflamed by the ardent determination to bring as many of our brothers and sisters as possible to Christ.
Please visit the USCCB Resource Page for free downloadable certificates and posters available in English and Spanish. A commissioning service for catechists and teachers is held at all parishes at the weekend. Masses and a sample are also found on the website.
“Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos hambriento?” -Mateo 25;37
