Priesthood Sunday
Priesthood Sunday is an opportunity for parishioners and students to express their gratitude and love for their parish priests and for all the priests who serve throughout our diocese. It is also a wonderful opportunity to highlight the gift of the priesthood and encourage and pray for new vocations.
In our diocese, as well as in the Diocese of Cleveland, we also have a tradition of celebrating a vocation-focused weekend on the last weekend of October. This weekend often includes seminarians visiting parishes to share their vocation stories and encourage others to consider a vocation to the priesthood. The national celebration of Priesthood Sunday, sponsored by the Serra International Vocation Ministry and observed by dioceses and parishes across the country, is the last weekend of September. I hope and pray that your parish will celebrate and promote vocations whenever it is most convenient for your community! You are certainly welcome to celebrate and thank our priests on September 26–27 and then celebrate and pray for our seminarians and vocations on the last weekend of October.
