MOST REV. DAVID J. BONNAR
Bishop of Youngstown
Bishop David Bonnar’s homily at Kent State University Parish Newman Center/Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel on Sunday evening, October 3, 2021.
Bishop Bonnar: I ask us all to emulate her example of faith in suffering seeking to offer our pain – like she did – for a special cause. Rhoda Wise, Servant of God,
pray for us!
Bishop Bonnar: “When we look at the life of Rhoda Wise, we know that she suffered much, but in that suffering, God spoke to her heart.”

Bishop Bonnar: “Let your tile blend with all the tiles of this local Church to present a magnificent mosaic of God’s love and presence.”
Bishop Bonnar: Anyone who works for the Church knows “It’s not just a job. It is an adventure.” We could easily add to this slogan by saying: “It’s a vocation. It’s a journey wrapped in mystery, drama, and surprise.”
Bishop Bonnar: As a seminarian studying theology, most especially the Second Vatican Council’s Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, I came to learn that God is present in the priest, the Word, the Eucharistic species of bread and wine, and the assembly.
