Library Aide

Location:  JFK LC 3000 Reeves Rd., Warren, Ohio

Grades K-5

Schedule can be flexible but must work 15 hours per week.

Job Summary:

The Library Aide supports the daily operations of the school library by assisting young students and staff in accessing library resources, maintaining organization of materials, and helping foster a love of reading.  The ideal candidate is patient, organized, and enjoys working with children in a literacy-rich environment.  

Key Responsibilities:

Assist students and staff in locating, borrowing, and returning library materials.

Check books and materials in and out using the library’s circulation system.

Shelve returned items and ensure materials are in the correct order.

Help maintain a clean, organized, and inviting library environment.

Prepare and organize library displays and bulletin boards to promote reading and learning.

Assist with inventory and processing of new books and materials.

Read aloud or help lead storytime activities.

Monitor student behavior to maintain a respectful and productive library atmosphere.

Provide clerical support such as data entry, copying, laminating, and labeling.

Collaborate with teachers on special projects, literacy events, and reading projects (e.g., book fairs, author visits, reading challenges.)

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Previous experience working with children or in a library center.

Basic computer and data entry skills.

Strong organizationals skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively with students, staff, and faculty.

Patient, dependable, and enthusiastic about promoting literacy and learning.

Ability to lift and move books and materials (up to 25 lbs) and stand for extended periods.

BCI/FBI background check

Virtus Course

Paraprofessional License or equivalent license
