Adult Faith Formation Opportunities:  Lifelong Learning NEW courses available for the Fall

The diocesan office of Faith Formation and Lay Ecclesial Ministry staff are pleased to offer Lifelong Learning sessions that can help all people, regardless of their role in the parish, Catholic school or diocesan office/agency  to experience new understandings of belief and practice.

A new brochure listing several courses and speaker series for the autumn season will be available online by September 1  (https://catechistcafe.weebly.com/catechist-courses.html) with one course beginning on September 24, 2026.  Many courses are online and can be worked on at any time that works for you each week (for instance, morning people can log on and work on course tasks at 6am, others can do it at lunchtime, and night owls can do it midnight. Whatever works best for you!) For in-person sessions, be sure to sign in on the attendance sheets.

All catechists teaching in parish formation programs (CCD, PSR, PREP), Catholic schools, family programs (Generations of Faith) and home-school religious education should have a current, valid certificate.  These courses help achieve the:

  • one-year certificate
  • four-year certificate
  • renewal of the four-year certificate

For details on Catechist Certification and to learn how to enroll,  visit this link to register today. A booklet will be mailed by September 1 to those on our mailing list. To be added to this list, or for any questions you have, contact Margie Hynes at 330-744-8451 ext. 296 or mhynes@youngstowndiocese.org.

——–

“Whoever is called ‘to teach Christ’ must first seek ‘the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus’…From this loving knowledge of Christ springs the desire to proclaim him, to “evangelize”, and to lead others to the “yes” of faith in Jesus Christ. But at the same time the need to know this faith better makes itself felt.”

(Catechism of the Catholic Church, #428 – 429)
