Maintenance Worker – Holy Apostles Parish, Youngstown

SUMMARY:    Routine maintenance activities to keep buildings and grounds in clean and orderly condition.  Address urgent unsafe conditions, remove snow and debris from steps/walkways in a timely manner.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gather and empty trash
  • Service, clean and supply restrooms
  • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
  • Clean windows, glass partitions and doors, and mirrors
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, buffing, waxing, and vacuuming
  • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking/unlocking doors according to operating hours, as appropriate
  • Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, and chairs to prepare facilities for events
  • Complete routine maintenance repairs
  • Complete seasonal work
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
  • Report to Rectory Office as instructed regarding services performed, time spent on various tasks, and other items requiring the attention of administration
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned

 

JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated skills in carpentry work, painting, plumbing, and landscaping.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and climb high ladders. Must be safety conscious at all times.
  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate with church volunteers on special maintenance projects.
  • Be a self-starter, be proactive to potential maintenance issues
  • Successful completion of Safe Environment Policy (fingerprint screening and VIRTUS training)
