Priests should note the revised ritual for the Distribution of Holy Communion to the Sick and Homebound and to those in hospitals/nursing facilities and review this revision with Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion in parishes who function in this capacity.
A new ritual book, Holy Communion and Worship of the Eucharistic Mystery Outside of Mass has been approved for use no later than December 1, 2024. This replaces the older ritual book for Adoration, Exposition, Eucharistic processions, and Distribution of Holy Communion outside Mass. Ritual editions are now available for purchase. Deacons, Diocesan Pastoral Associates, and Lay Leaders of Prayer should familiarize themselves with this new ritual book.
