YOUNGSTOWN, OH – Bishop David J. Bonnar, Bishop of Youngstown, has appointed Patrick S. Kiraly as the interim president of Cardinal Mooney High School. He starts on July 13.
Mr. Kiraly is a native of Youngstown who attended St. Christine’s Grade School before graduating from Cardinal Mooney High School. He earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in mechanical engineering from Youngstown State University and a Master of Science in Management of Technology from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Kiraly has over 30 years of leadership experience building high-performing teams, challenging the status quo, transforming organizations, and delivering measurable results. He has previously served as a board member for Cardinal Mooney High School.
Kiraly says, “My family and I are fortunate to have had 12 years of Catholic education—an important part of faith formation. The sacrifices made by our parents and grandparents serve as a lasting reminder of the primacy of our faith. I am grateful to Bishop Bonnar, the Member Board, and Cardinal Mooney’s Board for calling me to serve. Our previous President Nick Beyer established a solid foundation, making this an exciting time to be at Cardinal Mooney. The faculty and staff’s commitment to Catholic education at Cardinal Mooney is inspiring and sets a standard I will work hard to meet. I am eager to strengthen and grow Catholic education in the Diocese in partnership with our parishes, our sister high school, and our grade schools.”
On his appointment as interim president, Superintendent Dr. Steven Jones says, “Pat Kiraly brings a deep-seated appreciation for Catholic education and a love for Cardinal Mooney in particular. I am very excited to welcome him into this new role. His background at the school, both as a student and then as a member of the Board of Directors will be invaluable as he steps in to help lead Mooney during this transition into its next chapter.”
