Seminarian Travis Seagraves to be Ordained to the Transitional Diaconate

Ordination will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Saint Columba Cathedral

YOUNGSTOWN, OH—On Saturday, May 25, 2024, the Most Rev. David J. Bonnar, Bishop of Youngstown, will ordain seminarian Mr. Travis Seagraves as transitional deacon for the Diocese of Youngstown. The ordination liturgy will take place at the Cathedral of Saint Columba in Youngstown at 10:30 a.m., and can be also viewed online at The Catholic Echo website, www.catholicecho.org/live/

Following ordination, the new deacon will be assigned to serve in diaconal ministry at Our Lady of Peace Parish in Ashtabula while he completes his final year of formation at the seminary in anticipation of expected ordination to the priesthood next year. In the Fall, Deacon Seagraves will return to Saint Mary Seminary and Graduate School of Theology in Wickliffe, Ohio, to complete his priestly studies.

Mr. Travis Seagraves, a son of Daniel and Cathy Seagraves, is a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Warren. He attended Howland schools and is a graduate of The Ohio State University, in addition to his current studies at Saint Mary Seminary and Graduate School of Theology.

Separately, on June 1, 2024 at 10:30am, at St. Columba Cathedral, the Diocese of Youngstown will also celebrate the ordination of Deacon Kevin Bertleff and Deacon William Wainio to the priesthood. A separate press release is forthcoming.
