Free Webinar Series – “Behold the Lamb”

The Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions will sponsor a FREE Webinar Series entitled “Behold the Lamb” on Wednesday afternoons in May from 1:00 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. The webinar series will focus on the newly approved Holy Communion and Worship of the Eucharistic Mystery Outside of Mass ritual book.

May 1, 2024: History and Theology of Eucharistic Adoration after Vatican II, Part 1

Presenter:  Reverend Ed Foley, OFM, Capuchin, Professor Emeritus, Catholic Theological Union (Chicago)

How did the practice of adoration develop over the centuries? How did the Council’s reforms of the Mass impact our understanding of eucharistic practices outside Mass?

 

May 8, 2024: History and Theology of Eucharistic Adoration after Vatican II, Part 2

Presenter:  Reverend Ed Foley, OFM, Capuchin, Professor Emeritus, Catholic Theological Union (Chicago)

How does our modern ecclesial, missiological, and ecological theology impact our eucharistic spirituality and ethical way of life?

 

May 15, 2024: Music for a Period of Exposition

Presenter:  Dr. Steve Janco, Director of the Graduate Program in Music and Liturgy, Alverno College, Composer

What music is appropriate for a period of exposition?  How does our repertoire give glory to God and transform the lives of the assembly?

 

May 22, 2024: Best Practices for Adoration and Exposition

Presenter:  Rev. Matthew Ernest, Director of the Office of Worship, Archdiocese of New York and Professor, Saint Joseph Seminary, New York

How do liturgical texts, papal documents, and diocesan guidelines promote respectful and authentic worship?  How does the worship of the Eucharist flow from the Mass and lead people back to it?  How should all this better inform our best practices for adoration and exposition in our parishes?

 

June 5, 2024: An Examination of the newly revised liturgical text, “Holy Communion and Worship of the Eucharistic Mystery Outside Mass”
