The Most Rev. David J. Bonnar, Bishop of Youngstown, has made the following Clergy (Priests and Deacons) and Diocesan Pastoral Associate appointments effective July 1, 2023, unless otherwise noted. They are listed in alphabetical order.  


Clergy – Priests
 
Rev. Edward Beneleit, relieved of duties as sacramental minister at Holy Family Parish in Navarre and Brewster.
 
Rev. Thomas Bishop, relieved of duties as sacramental minister at Holy Family Parish in Navarre and Brewster.
 
Rev. Peter Haladej, Bishop Bonnar has accepted his resignation from ministry effective, June 2, 2023.
 
Rev. Donald King, pro-tem administrator of Divine Mercy Parish Massillon, in addition to his current responsibilities as President of Stark County Catholic High Schools, effective June 5, 2023.
 
Very Rev. Thomas Kraszewski, V.F., from pastor of the merged parishes of Saint Anthony/All Saints and Saint Mary/Saint Benedict Parish in Canton, and Dean of Stark West Deanery, to administrator of Saint Angela Merici Parish and Saint Patrick Parish in Youngstown.
 
Very Rev. John-Michael Lavelle, relieved of duties as pro-tem administrator of Saint Paul Parish Salem, and Saint Patrick Parish Leetonia, effective June 7, 2023.
 
Rev. Maciej Mankowski, granted a six-month medical leave of absence and relieved of duties as pastor of Holy Family Parish in Navarre and Brewster, effective June 5, 2023.
 
Rev. Kevin Peters, from pastor of Saint Angela Merici Parish and Saint Patrick Parish in Youngstown, and chaplain at Ursuline High School, to pastor of the merged parishes of Saint Anthony/All Saints and Saint Mary/Saint Benedict in Canton, pastor of Holy Family Parish in Navarre and Brewster, Diocesan Director of Rural Life and Ministry, and Dean of Stark West Deanery.
 
Msgr. Peter Polando, returning from a medical leave of absence and resuming duties as pastor of Saint Paul Parish Salem, and Saint Patrick Parish Leetonia, effective June 7, 2023.

Rev. Donald King Appointed President of Stark County Catholic Schools

Press Release | The Most Rev. David J. Bonnar, Bishop of Youngstown, has appointed Rev. Donald King as President of Stark County Catholic Schools. Father King’s appointment as President became effective October 11, 2022. Father King had served as Interim President since July 1, 2022.

Merger of St. Barbara, St. Joseph, and St. Mary Parishes, Massillon, and Establishment of Divine Mercy Parish

Press Release | After a period of consultation among parish representatives and the diocese’s presbyteral council, The Most Rev. David J. Bonnar, Bishop of Youngstown, has accepted the recommendation of Rev. Maciej (Matthew) Mankowski, pastor of Massillon’s St. Barbara Parish, St. Joseph Parish and St. Mary Parish to merge the three parishes, effective January 1, 2023. The new parish will include all three church buildings which will retain their names as customary in Church tradition, while the parish itself will be known as “Divine Mercy Parish.”
