Fortnight for Freedom Activities June 21-July 4
Monday, 04 June 2012 18:28

Bishop George V. Murry, S.J., will celebrate Mass at the Cathedral of St. Columba in Youngstown at 12:10 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, followed by an information forum on religious freedom in St. Columba Parish Hall. Forum presenters from Catholic Charities and the diocesan Office of Pro-Life, Marriage and Family Life will offer historical perspective and ideas for parish action and public advocacy.

Following the publication of the document “Our First, Most Cherished Freedom,” outlining threats to religious freedom both at home and abroad, the Catholic bishops of the United States have called for a “Fortnight for Freedom,” a 14-day period of prayer, education and action in support of religious freedom from June 21-July 4, (the vigil of the feasts of St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher and Independence Day). The website Fortnight4Freedom.org offers complete information.

All are invited to attend the Mass and forum. No reservations are necessary. For additional details, visit this page and/or contact the Diocese of Youngstown at (330) 744-8451 ext 289.
