Bishop David J. Bonnar announces the following Clergy and Pastoral Assignments:
Clergy Assignments – Priests
Very Reverend Michael D. Balash, as pro tem administrator of Saint Patrick Parish, Hubbard effective immediately until September 9, 2024 in addition to current responsibilities as Vicar for Clergy and Religious Services, Director, Office of Worship and sacramental minister at Trumbull North parishes.
Very Reverend John Chrysostom Kozlowski, O.P., V.F., as Dean of Trumbull County Deanery effective immediately in addition to his current responsibilities as pastor of Saint Rose Parish, Girard, Diocesan Director of Formation for the Permanent Diaconate, the Diocesan Tribunal, and the Diocesan Theological Commission.
Reverend John Rovnak, from parochial vicar at Holy Family Parish, Poland, and Saint Paul Parish, New Middletown, to administrator of Saint Patrick Parish, Hubbard effective September 9, 2024. Fr. Rovnak will also remain chaplain at Cardinal Mooney High School and continue his studies in Canon Law at Catholic University of America.
Pastoral Assignment
Mr. Dominic Colucy, title change from Safe Environment Coordinator to Director of the Office of Safe Environment effective immediately and as Vice-Chancellor of the Diocese of Youngstown effective July 1, 2024

The Most Reverend David J. Bonnar, Bishop of Youngstown, announces the following appointment:
Colucy, Mr. Dominic, appointed to Vice-Chancellor of the Diocese of Youngstown, to assist the Chancellor, Joan Lawson, in the execution of her duties, effective July 1, 2024 and change in title from Safe Environment Coordinator to Director of the Office of Safe Environment, effective immediately.

On June 17, 2024, the Most Reverend David J. Bonnar, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Youngstown accepted the resignation of Reverend Michael A. Swierz from the pastorate of Saint Patrick Parish, Hubbard, the Presidency of Saint Joseph the Provider School, and as Dean of Trumbull County. Father Swierz has been placed on administrative leave because of admitted actions that constituted violations of Diocesan policies. The action at issue occurred while he was at Saint Rose Parish, Girard in the late 1980’s. The investigation into these matters is ongoing and Father Swierz is cooperating in the investigation. The Diocese will not provide further comment on either the investigation or Father Swierz’s situation at this time.
