Assistant Principal/Part Time Teacher
Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to ensure Catholic Christian spirit and leadership according
to Diocesan and school policies, rules and regulations and perform as a catechetical, instructional, and
managerial leader of the Catholic school. The Vice-Principal is hired by the Principal and Pastor in
conjunction with the Office of Catholic Schools.
The position will be a split role spending half time teaching at grade level of certification while spending
half time as the assistant administrator of the school. Administrative duties include but are not limited
Important Job Function as assigned by Principal may include:
Develops, updates, and distributes Family and Faculty Handbooks consistent with diocesan
policies and procedures.
Maintain Behavior/Discipline/ Develop School Culture
Conferences with parents upon request and responds to messages in a timely manner
Attends to the supervision of staff members
Reviews lesson plans regularly
Plans all faculty and staff development meetings as needed
Attends school-wide functions and special events as required
Promotes positive public relations with parents, students, staff, and the local community
Maintains professionalism in dress and hygiene
Fulfills all licensure requirements
Contributes to regular newsletters for faculty and for parents
Completes accurate required reports in a timely manner
Maintains personnel and school files
Maintains updated material and equipment inventories
Supervises grades 7 and 8 athletics
Is an ex-officio member of school committees and organizations
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church
Knowledge of legal issues relating to Catholic Schools
Knowledge of principles of curriculum and instruction

to a school
Minimum Qualifications:
Practicing Catholic committed to Catholic education
Advanced Degree in Educational Leadership/Master’s Degree
Valid State of Ohio Administrator License (or an approved annual plan to obtain the
requirements necessary)
Eligible for DOY Religious Education Certificate

Working Conditions:
The working hours of this position are not limited to an 8-hour day. The Assistant Principal will need to
be available in the evening and weekends, as needed, and must be willing to work in conditions of stress
and function well under pressure. The Assistant Principal must be able to work longer hours to
complete various tasks.
