Bishop David Bonnar to Bless New Parish Center at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Niles

A ribbon cutting and open house will follow mass

The Most Rev. David J. Bonnar, Bishop of Youngstown will celebrate Mass on Father’s Day, June 16, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles. Afterward he will bless the new parish center, which is located at 29 Erie Street, across from Mount Carmel Church. A ribbon cutting and open house will take place from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. On July 1, Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Saint Stephen parishes will become Saint Pope John XXIII Parish.

The new parish center building is 12,500 square feet, and features five class and meeting rooms. The facility also includes a state of the art kitchen with pizza ovens, convection ovens, fryers as well as a walk-in freezer and cooler. The hall seats 250 people at a round table and 415 with chairs. The cost of the project is $3.3 million dollars, $1.9 million has been raised by the parish.
