The Most Rev. Bishop David J. Bonnar, Bishop of Youngstown will preside over a Eucharistic Evening of Reflection July 10 at Little Flower Parish, 2040 Diamond Street NE in Canton. The adoration and benediction takes place from 6:00-7:30 p.m. The theme of the evening is “The Holy Eucharist: Food for the Journey, Life for the Soul, Promise of Peace and Unity.” The event is in spiritual support of the National Eucharistic Congress, which takes place July 17-21 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is the first National Eucharistic Congress in 83 years and the event includes religious, clergy and laypeople. Similar evenings of reflection centered on the Eucharist are planned for other parts of the diocese in coming months. For more information go to www.eucharisticcongress.org

Additionally, on August 14, Catholic Bishops, priests, deacons, consecrated religious and lay faithful from across Ohio will gather to celebrate the Vigil of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

That event begins at 9 p.m with a candlelight rosary procession with the statue of Our Lady of Consolation from the Basilica Shrine to the Shrine Park followed by Holy Mass at the outdoor Altar in the Shrine Park. Toledo Bishop Daniel E. Thomas will be the celebrant and Columbus Bishop Earl K. Fernandes will be the homilist.

Bishop David J. Bonnar is expected to attend all the events. The Diocese of Youngstown is also sending clergy and lay representatives. For more information, go to www.ohiocathconf.org
