The 2024 Organ Recital Series continues February 23 at St. Columba Cathedral, 154 W. Wood St., Youngstown, featuring organists from across northeast Ohio and beyond. The Cathedral’s music director and organist Ralph Holtzhauser is the next featured soloist. The series continues with Josh Kraybill on March 22, Davis Badaszewski on April 19, Mario Buchanan on May 10 and Sean Baran on June 28. All concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. except the June 28, which begins at 7:30 p.m. The shows are free, but donations will support cathedral music programs.

St. Columba was established as the Diocese of Youngstown’s cathedral in 1943. Over the past year, renovations have taken place focusing on the cathedra, altar, mosaic and the cathedral’s sanctuary.

Holtzhauser has been Diocesan Director of Music since 2022 and recently earned his Master’s Degree from world renowned organist Todd Wilson at the Cleveland Institute of Music. In his 23 year playing career, Holtzhauser has ventured into jazz, as well as progressive rock. Also, he is currently recording a CD of all African American organ music that has yet to be recorded, releasing this upcoming summer and featured at the AGO National Convention.
