Kolbe Gathering in Youngstown Canceled

hands behind prison bars

The Diocese of Youngstown, through its Prison Ministry program, facilitates the Kolbe Gathering.  Kolbe Gathering is a place for the formerly incarcerated and their families to join with parish-based volunteers in spiritual support and fellowship.  Our gatherings embrace spirituality in prayer, music, scripture reading and fellowship, all in a welcoming and warm environment.  It is through our actions that we can share God’s unconditional love and support to each other.  Kolbe Gatherings can help those who are in need and looking for a parish or faith-based organizations to join.

The Kolbe Gathering on August 7th in Youngstown is canceled, and will resume on August 21st.

Usually, our gatherings take place on the first and third Thursday of the month from 6 pm until 7 pm at three locations:

  • SS Peter and Paul Church, St. Columba Cathedral Parish, 421 Covington St, Youngstown, OH 44510
  • St. Joseph Calasanctius Parish, 32 E Jefferson St, Jefferson, OH 44047
  • Immaculate Conception Parish Center, 225 S. Sycamore St., Ravenna, OH 44266 (Contact: Eric Ruehr 330.221.4340 or Deacon Tim DeFrange 330.319.3908)

The Kolbe Gathering takes its name from the St, Maximilian Kolbe, the Patron Saint for prisoners and drug addicts.  He was martyred in the German death camp of Auschwitz during the second world war.
