In-Service on February 10 regarding Mental Health for Parish Ministers

All parish ministers (including interested clergy, school staff and others interested) are invited to participate in a one-day in-service on Tuesday, February 10, entitled:

Emmaus Walkers: Catholic Guide to Accompaniment of Parish Ministers with those with Mental Health Challenges

Presented by Brother Fred Cabras OFM Capuchin, LCSW, who serves as the Director of Social Services Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit, and on the Board for National Catholic Partnership on Disability (NCPD).

We will begin with a a basic “Mental Health 101” training through the lens of spiritual guidance. We will then talk about the importance of stigma-free language, education, and presence. He will offer insights about mental health challenges and provide tools to help walk with a person who has a mental health challenge. We will also look at how to talk about depression, anxiety and other prevalent conditions, as appropriate,  with children and youth. The speaker will end with entertaining questions.

Pre-registration is required for this workshop by February 2.
