Late last year the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments confirmed the revised translation of the Order of the Anointing of the Sick and of Their Pastoral Care. This new ritual translation has been undergoing the normal textual and editorial review by the USCCB.

A timeline of implementation has been announced by the USCCB along with publishers who will be offering the new ritual book:
- The books may be advertised by publishers and available for pre-order as of August 1, 2025.
- Per USCCB, the books may be shipped beginning January 1, 2026.
- The new ritual book may be used beginning on February 11, 2026, the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes.
- Mandatory use of the new ritual book is April 5, 2026, Easter Sunday.
