On Wednesday, March 8, 2023, parishes throughout the Diocese of Youngstown will participate in the annual “The Light is ON for you – An Evening of Reconciliation.”  While the Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated throughout the Lenten season and the entire year in local parishes, the Diocese of Youngstown has identified Wednesday, March 8th as a common date when the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available in parishes throughout the diocese through a variety of services or individually.  All parishioners are encouraged to participate in these special events at their parish or at a neighboring parish.

During Lent, Catholics are reminded to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation as part of their Lenten observance in preparation for Easter.  These services provide an opportunity for all parishioners to embrace and live God’s mercy and love more completely through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  Pope Francis has said that all people of faith should be ever mindful of God’s mercy in their lives and that, in turn, all should show and offer that same mercy to one another through the gift of reconciliation.

“The Light is On for You” coincides with the Season of Lent which urges Catholics to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Penance) as part of their Lenten journey in preparation for Easter.

Parishes will be celebrating “The Light is ON for You: An Evening of Reconciliation” in a variety of ways.  For a full list of times in all six counties of the Diocese of Youngstown, visit doy.org/thelightisonforyou/
