St. Blaise Parish is seeking a Music Director to lead music ministry at the two parish churches in Austintown, Ohio. The Music Director is responsible for planning and directing music for weekend Masses, Holy days, weddings, funerals, and other major parish liturgies. The Music Director will secure additional instrumentalists as needed, direct all music groups, and recruit, train, and mentor cantors. The successful candidate will collaborate with clergy and staff in planning special occasions and will work to promote full participation in the liturgy. The Director ensures parish music practices align with the General Instruction of the Roman Missal, develops and monitors a music budget, and maintains parish music resources.
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in piano or organ performance, sacred music, or liturgy, proficiency in choral conducting, familiarity with digital sound technology, and thorough knowledge of Roman Catholic theology and use of sacred music.
The salary for this position is $45,000 annually, negotiable depending on education and experience. A stipend is provided for wedding and funeral liturgies.
