Tenebrae Service: Sunday March 29th at 7:00pm at Blessed Sacrament Church (St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish) in Warren
St. Teresa of Calcutta parish in Warren, Ohio will present a Tenebrae service on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the Blessed Sacrament worship site, 3020 Reeves Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483. The service will feature scripture readings, prayer reflections and music by the combined Blessed Sacrament, St. James, and St. Mary’s Choirs.
Tenebrae has been a lesser known, but beautiful part of the Easter Triduum for many years. Celebrated by monasteries and parishes throughout the world, Tenebrae means darkness or shadow in Latin and focuses our attention on the sufferings and death of our Savior. Readings, prayer, and meditational anthems by the combined parish choirs and cantors will add solemnity to the service. This will be a fitting and prayerful beginning to a week of suffering and finally jubilation at the resurrection of our Lord and Savior.
If your parish is having any upcoming musical events you’d like to send out to other musicians in the diocese and also have published on the diocesan website, please email Ralph Holtzhauser, Diocesan Music Director, at rholtzhauser@youngstowndiocese.org! Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions musically. I’ll do my best to help.
